Mary ordered up an absolutely beautiful day for us! The sun is bright and we feel the warmth of her love upon us! It's still hard to believe that yesterday happened.
I want you all to know that things happened very rapidly yesterday and we were all shocked at how quickly things deteriorated. She was still relatively alert when we brought her into the ER. Once her pain was managed she said she felt so much better. Her friend Roger McCullough came and read Psalm 23 and prayed with Mary. It was powerful and Mom was so pleased. It was a very significant moment and really put her at peace. She was not alert to any degree after he left. Thank you Roger for providing such a gift. Words can never express how grateful we are for the comfort you gave her.
Mary passed with family, and grandchildren at her side. We were all paying over her and during the Lords Prayer Mom took her last breath. Thank you God for your mercy in acting so swiftly.

Just found out about Mary's passing and am so sad... yet elated that she got to go home to her maker. Felt like writing to you because I just was so moved by all your posts on Mary's journey. If she were measured by the children she raised and how they value and treasure the important things... God is surely happy. You obviously used Mary's journey to process things... words, thoughts, bible verses, experiences... but in the journey you also were such a blessing to all others who were reading, processing, and enriching their lives as well. That is how Mary lived her life... enhancing others lives along the way... ready to help out where she could and affecting so many unknowingly. I just wanted you to know that you did that as well... in doing this you have continued your mom's legacy and that is a very good thing! Blessings and prayers to you all as you go through the next part of grieving and finding who you are without her. She has obviously left you well prepared! Sherri Ruf
ReplyDeleteSherri..Oh goodness.. Thank you! What a wonderful message to wake to on this day. I was proud to be the voice when Mom was unable to. In moments when things seemed to spiral, I would take to the blog and find my "peace". You are absolutely correct in how this process unfolded for me and I'm so happy that you found some value in it! I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know!
