Gary took the back roads again.....when he suggested it, I didn't think he could stretch out a 90 mile drive to 7 hours....but some how he did. I was thinking more like 3 or 4 hours at most.
We did find this great little town Beaufort, SC on the water, with beautiful old homes and also had a great restaurant that had one of the best meals of the trip as far as restaurants go. Had this great low country shrimp cobb salad. Had a hot bacon vinegarette dressing on it, We started the meal with a cup of lobster bisque soup too. I'll probably gain a ton on this trip.
We finally made it to Charleston around 5 p.m. or so, and then headed into town and parked near the Marketplace, but it was just about 6 p.m. and everything was closing, so Gary and Kathleen wanted to take a walk through the historic area, and Judy and I stayed in the Market St. area. They finally came back from their walk and we decided to head back toward the motel in North Charleston, and Gary had Yelped a restaurant, but we couldn't find it, and then he found out it closed at 2:30 in the afternoon, so then we tried to find another, and it was a Irish Pub, but it was now about 9 p.m. and I was starving, and so was Judy....Had great Irish stew and Corned Beef and Cabbage, but now probably won't beable to sleep for awhile.
Going on a carriage tour in the morning, and then on a boat over to Fort Sumpter. Got to get up early and start moving, so will try to sleep soon.
Having a great time.....love and prayers, m
