We stopped for lunch at Mrs. Wilkes, which used to be a boarding house, and now just serves lunch, family style, and with about 25 entrees, I've listed most of them on my facebook site if you are interested. After that it was time to walk off all the pounds of food we ate. We also took a tour of the Mercer House, that the book
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evilmurder took place.
We also toured the the first Catholic church in Georgia, after they took off the prohibition for Catholics in the colony. Along with the 3 other prohibitions: drinking rum, lawyers, and slavery.
We got off the trolley about 5:30 p.m. and then drove out to Tybee Island to see the lighthouse, but never did find it. It was where they filmed "Love Song" that I saw a few years ago. The beach we took pictures on looked like the place it was filmed. From there we went in search of a bar to have a drink and a light snack....Gary looked up one on Yelp, and his GPS (Heidi) took us into some gated community with no bar anywhere in site. Pour Heidi, I think she's sick of us.
We finally found a little locals bar in Old town Savannah, and it was called Master Pinky's Bar. A real dive!! But a interesting place where mostly only locals go. At the bar Gary got into a conversation with a priest and a doctor. Only about 4 or 5 others in there, but we had a seat and played a game of spades and another of criss-cross. Judy got to be Gary's partner today, and they won both games.
Since the bar had no food, and we hadn't eaten anything since Mrs. Wilkes, I wanted something before we got back to the motel, so we stopped at a seafood place near it. I had Gumbo, Kathleen had Conch Stew and Gary had Crab Stew. Judy was the only different one, and she had an appetizer which was stuffed crab. Any way we all are exhausted and came back to the hotel and are getting ready for bed.
Tomorrow we head for Charleston to see the sites there. Having a great time. Love and prayers, m
OK, Gary, a Priest, and a Doctor walk into a bar....
