Tom, Karen and family should arrive before noon today, and then around 5 pm we will all gather at Bill and Kim's for our Christmas celebration. We are all bringing an appetizer to share, and Santa will arrive around 6:30. Just all being together will be the best present for me.
I need to prepare that appetizer for this evening, but other than that I'm pretty much ready. I did a little shopping for groceries yesterday when I went to pick up my prescription at the clinic. I was shocked to find only a small organic pint container or fresh cranberries. I expected to find a bag of them about 4 times as much for the price I paid for the pint of organic. But that was all they had. I guess you can only find them at Thanksgiving. I only want them for stringing along with popcorn for the birds. I sure hope the birds like the organic ones!
Last night I went out at 8:20 to watch Doug (my son-in-law) play in the Alumni Hockey game at the new Coon Rapids Ice Center. His mom and dad, his family, and Jim and Ann also came to watch. Matthew was so funny....yelling at his dad to hustle!! and Nicole and Allie both claimed they were going to have to have a post game discussion with him on the way home. But even though they were critical of his play, his team won 18 to 9. Yes that is a hockey score!! I guess several of the teams were older than Doug, both teams had a lot of 2011 and 2010 alumni. The Coon Rapids Mayor, who graduated in 1976 was the oldest, and he was on the winning team, and they even let him score. Fun to watch!
Looks like we missed the snow they thought we would get last night, and 45 degrees for tomorrow, but 2012 it's going to get cold. Maybe we will actually have winter.
Please say some prayers for Sonya Driste her cancer may be back too! She had a PET scan yesterday. Lottie Virnig has her second round of chemo today, and cousin Louie is always in need of those prayers too. Don't forget me too! Love and prayers, m

The Sun is Gone!
But it will be shining bright when the Chicago Kiecker's arrive this evening. I'm so excited. Ooops! Tom just called and they won't be here till tomorrow around noon. Darn, but the store has been crazy busy, and Tom just doesn't feel good about leaving their part-time women without help for 3 days. So I guess I'll have to wait for that sun to shine another day.
Yesterday Bill came and helped empty out the back bedroom that was filled with presents, and he also helped me fix a few things. My closet door had fallen off the track and a ceiling light had burnt out, and I couldn't figure out how to get it off to replace the bulb. The door was definitely a two person job, and we both had to work to get it back in working order. They are floor to ceiling doors, really heavy, and hard to hold in place while the other screws it into place.
He also stayed and visited for a while. He is on vacation this week, so he had time to do that. While he was here, my friend Bonnie stopped in with some Christmas goodies that her friend Dave had made for me, Chokecherry jam, krumkaka and rosettes. Bill and I dug into the rosettes as soon as she walked out the door. They were really good, and something I made when the kids were little, but are so much work....I haven't made for ages. Thanks Dave.
Besides cleaning I worked on getting some more meds. On Tuesday I called to get a refill on a pain pill, and they gave me one less potent than I had, and it didn't work at all, and I didn't sleep all night, so yesterday I called and asked to get the med I had originally, and I can pick that one up today, but in the process of talking to the nurse and telling her about my restless leg syndrome and my neuropathy in my feet, she said the doctor had suggested I get a med especially for RLS, and I would need to call my GP for that. So I put in a call to HealthPartners and left a message for Dr. Norquist, and got a call this morning from his nurse. She says he would like me to come in and talk about taking this med before ordering it for me....so now I have an appointment for next Thursday to see him.
Hopefully all will be well. Maybe with that med for RLS, I won't need the pain meds. We'll see. I just want a good nights sleep.
Must get the bed made in the back bedroom, and start gathering things for the weekend at the cabin. I'll write again tomorrow. Love and prayers, m

Clouds Thickening!
But warm air is coming back for the weekend. Sounds like we'll have a great long weekend with my family. I finally finished wrapping all those gifts, and I am getting so excited. Having all the family together is the best Christmas present I could ever get. I'm looking forward to lots of fun and games, love and laughter, and great food and conversations. We all share in the making of that food and nobody has to do all the prep or all the clean-up.
Yesterday I wrapped the last gift by 2 p.m., I had a mission to finish before Bill arrived to help move them to his house.....but he called and said he wasn't feeling well (has a cold) and he had to take Katie to driver's training which he had forgotten about, so he was hoping to get better and come today.
Having the rest of the day to do anything, so I went shopping...of course!!! Picked up some clearance things that I came home and put in their stockings, and replenished my wrapping paper stock (actually I didn't have much to pick from, so didn't buy a lot) and got a few small things for prizes for Bunco on Saturday night.
I've started a pile of things to take to the cabin, and did some more cleaning up after the wrapping project. I had put a table in the middle of my living room with all the stuff I needed to wrap. I also organized all the stuff before putting it all away.
Today I hope to get rid of all those packages from the back bedroom, so I can make the bed and clean that room too.
I did pick up a couple of prescriptions yesterday, one being a change, from Oxycodone to Hydrocodone as the first had to be signed in by the doctor and the doctor wouldn't be in the CR clinic till Thursday, and the other could be called in and picked up yesterday. They said they were basically the same, but I don't think the Hydrocodone worked at all. I took one at 6 p.m. and another at 10 p.m. and by 12 midnight when I went to bed, I didn't think it had worked at all. I was awake every hour all night except 5 a.m. And when getting up this morning, the cramping pain in my back and hips was still there. I may call back the clinic today and see if I can get the Oxycodone instead. I maybe could take more, but that scares me....I only took one pill each time. I tried not to take more than 2 each night, and they only give me 30 at a time with no refills...even though the bottle says take 1-2 pills every 4-6 hours. I'll talk to the nurse today and see what she thinks.
Keep those prayers coming, Love and prayers, m

Wow! Record Heat!
Broke the all time record for high temp yesterday! 52 degrees on December 26th! Colder air and maybe some snow flakes by the end of the week. But a dry weekend is predicted. Hopefully the Chicago Kiecker's will have great traveling weather.
It's not really Christmas till the whole family is together, so I'm really anxious for all to gather.
Yesterday I thought I was going out to pick up my prescription refill, but when I went on line to check it's status, I realized they were closed on Monday, so I got dressed and ready to go for nothing. I did make a run to Walgreens to pick up some other things, but otherwise I did more wrapping, cooking and cleaning. I'm guessing I'll finish that wrapping today....with any luck!
I do have to go pick up that prescription at Health Partners, but other than that, I guess cleaning will be much needed. Bill will come over and pick up a load of those wrapped gifts and take them to his house....that's where we will open gifts on Friday night. That is one disadvantage of opening gifts at someone else's home.
That's about it for today....Love and Prayers, m

Is It Winter or Spring?
I can't believe how what it continues to be. I love the sunshine, and I'm not really complaining, I just can't believe it. Yesterday was the 5th warmest Christmas in history. It's so strange. Mid to upper 40's? Winter may come later in the week.
I managed to talk to all my kids over the weekend, and tried calling mom (Aunt Loretta) but she wasn't home. I also got to talk to Kathleen and Gary. Who had lost my gag gift for Gary....but after insisting I sent it, they went back to the tree and found it in the tree skirt. But unfortunately I had asked how Gary liked his pistachio's? so he already knew what it was before opening it, so he pretended to be so surprised!
Kathleen and Gary sent me a new cook book for my pressure cooker, and a beautiful blouse and sweater combination top and I got to wear it yesterday to Lynn's house.
It was nice to celebrate with the Kiecker's and Bruce made such a great meal. He served both pork roast and spiral ham, along with 3 different vegetables and cole slaw and mashed potatoes. I stuffed myself.
We exchanged a few small gifts, and then we played a game of open and steal someone else's. We do this first with $1 gifts and then with $10 ones. You always have one gift everyone fights over, but only the last one who gets to exchange really gets what they want!
I returned home around 6 p.m. and then preceded to watch the Green Bay football game. I did get a few more packages wrapped, but not many. I'll work on more today.
May go out to pick up a few items, so I have to get dressed whether I like it or not!
I drank coffee at Lynn's yesterday, and thought I quite early enough, but I guess not. I was awake till 3 a.m. before I finally fell a sleep. When will I learn?

Merry Christmas to All!
The Son is Shining and it is so beautiful. Hope you all have a wonderful day!
I had a great evening with Annie and Doug and family last night. Church was good, although I cry every time I hear Silent Night....and I can't even explain why. I don't know if it is thoughts about my mom, or her brothers and sisters who died at this time of the year, or what?
Annie's dinner was great, she makes her lasagna just like my mom did. Matthew was so excited and fun to watch. When we sat down at the table, We held hands for prayer, and Carol mentioned it was the first time she had held a cell phone when we prayed the Our Father in church earlier, and we all laughed as Allie's phone was stuck up her sleeve slipped out. So when we joined hands for dinner prayer, Annie said "Of wait, I need to get my phone" and we all laughed and all of a sudden Matthew says "Oh wait, I need to get my presents" we all laughed again, but we finally did pray and give thanks for our meal.
Later when Matthew opened all his gifts (all exactly what he wanted and the best gift ever) Annie asked him for a kiss when he was thanking them, and he says, no mom I ate fish! Ewwww! I had brought some salmon cakes as an appetizer, and only Matthew, Math, Carol and I would eat them! He is a quick whit!
Today I am heading to Gene's nieces for dinner. I haven't seen them since Jack's graduation in June, so I'm looking forward to visiting with them all.
Love and prayers, m

Christmas Eve?
It just doesn't feel like it. The stockings all hung by the chimney with care.....in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there? Ain't got that either. No snow.....The Son is Shining and so is the sun. I still have six sleeps!! lots of packages to wrap, but guess what? I'm finished shopping!
With any luck my family will gather next Thursday evening as the Chicago Kiecker's arrive in town, and then Friday we'll have Christmas with gift opening and Santa, and then Saturday morning we head to the cabin and do our progressive dinner which has turned into a non-progressive this year, but each family taking part with their course of the 4 course meal. (Appetizers, Soup and Salad, Main course, and dessert.)
We'll string popcorn and cranberries for the tree on the deck, and we'll play games, maybe some bunko and cheer in the New Year....but won't be rolling in the snow, or even running in it barefoot as in years past, cause right now we don't have any.
Yesterday I finished that shopping, and also went to the JV Hockey game....couldn't stand sitting all the way through the varsity game, so came home and took a pain reliever and waited for it to take hold, and then set in to wrap a few more gifts. I figure if I wrap a few each day, I'll be done before my Christmas on Friday.
This morning I may make some candy, and then early this afternoon will head over to church for the Children's Pageant that starts at 3:20, so I figure I better be there 1/2 hour before it starts. At 4 p.m. the Mass starts, and then on to Annie's for dinner, and Matthew gets to open presents. He doesn't care about anyone else that's all he's waiting for. I think Nicole and Allie get some too! I don't think he'll even eat his dinner. He's pretty excited about that.
Tomorrow I will go to Gene's niece Lynn's, and celebrate with the Kiecker's. Hope you have a great weekend planned, and that you have a Merry Christmas!!! Love and prayers, m

Gray but Warmer
The Son is shining in my heart even though I can't see it out my window. My mailbox has been flooded by Christmas cards filled with Love and Sonshine too! Unfortunately you haven't seen one from me. Well I promise it will come, but our family isn't celebrating till next week, So I plan on sending you a picture of the whole family! I hope that makes up for it being late. I may write a short letter, but trying to keep up with 4 families activities and 11 busy grandkids is a challenge, so I'll do my best.
Yesterday I kept my word and didn't get dressed. I did get the garbage cans out, but not till after dark so nobody could tell I was still in my pjs. But not getting dressed didn't stop me from getting a lot done. I washed 4 loads of clothes, folded and put them away. I also wrapped some more packages....thank goodness I don't have to have that finished for another week. I even did some cleaning of bathrooms.
Today I have a little grocery shopping and I'm down to 3 stores to hit. Then I may go watch some hockey this evening.
Tomorrow I will go to the early afternoon children's program at 3:20 and then Mass to follow and then dinner at Annie and Doug's, along with Matt and Carol (Doug's parents) to eat my mom's traditional Lasagna. Strange for a Austria Hungarian. But it was great to make for a big family. On Sunday, Christmas Day, I will head into the city to Gene's side of the family. Lynn Burmeister (his niece) will host the gathering. So even though Christmas is the 24th and 25th of Dec. my Christmas will be next week...not to be confused with New Years! I really get several Christmas's that way.
I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers, Love, m

Brighter and Colder
Woke up this morning thinking it was Friday, and I hadn't put out my garbage....then I opened the blinds, and so did everyone else on the block? Then the Today Show mentioned it was Thursday! Whewwwww!!! I've an extra day to get ready for Christmas. Actually I have a whole week to mostly prepare, but I do have some things I need to have ready by Saturday afternoon and Sunday, but minimal compared to the wrapping I still have left to do. I have over a 100 packages to wrap for my family Christmas next Friday!
Yesterday Bonnie came over in the morning, and we made some plans for our January trip. We got reservations through her timeshare in Myrtle Beach (yes Gary, another thing off my bucket list). Lois got her cortisone shot yesterday, and says she is ready to go too! So starting to get excited about that.
After she left, I went shopping and picked up a few more items left on my list, and I also found my gloves that I had lost the day before. So I really felt I had accomplished a lot. Then as I was coming out of Kohls, the snow flurries started and I really was in the holiday mood.
My friend Val came to pick me up for dinner at about 4:15 p.m. and because of the snow flurries she was afraid to driving to South Mpls where she had a gift certificate for. So we decided to go to Famous Daves here in Coon Rapids, and by the time we got there the flurries had stopped....leaving hardly anything on the ground....and my hopes for a white Christmas were dashed again!!
Today I have laundry to take care of....and more wrapping.....but I think I will hold off the shopping till tomorrow. Down to three stores to hit tomorrow.....maybe I should do it today just incase somebody doesn't have what I need....or maybe not! That means I have to get dressed too! Hmmmmm! Decisions!!
Not much else to report. Love and prayers, m

Brown and Gray?
Crazy winter weather. Yesterday was nice, and today it's supposed to be even nicer as far as temp goes, but it's a little void of sun and snow. May get a few flurries this afternoon, but no ground cover.
I got a bunch of little things purchased yesterday, but managed to lose my gloves....I'll have to go back today and retrace my steps and see if I can find them. In the mean time I'll have to dig out another pair form the pockets of a coat hanging in the closet. Let's hope I find one. About a month ago I donated to Lupus a pile of gloves and hats and a couple of scarves I don't wear anymore. I hope it wasn't the pair I now need.
After shopping Bonnie picked me up for an early afternoon movie, but we went to Lois's house to watch it. "Eat, Love, Pray." was a good movie, with lots of great scenery. I bought the CD on Black Friday and thought it would be one we could have at the cabin.
I got home around seven or so. And then did some more Christmas stuff, like wrapping and other fun stuff.
This morning, Bonnie is coming over to see if we can find someplace to go (using her timeshare exchange system) the end of January. We already know we can't go to Florida....nothing available. Nothing around Savannah or Charleston coast, but maybe if we go a little farther north. We'll see what we can find.
This afternoon, I'm going to dinner with my friend Val from the college too. In between I'll go looking for those gloves and maybe a few last minute things I need to still get.
Well, I better get busy if I'm getting company soon. Love and Prayers, m

Brown and Bright!
NOT clean and white!! and it doesn't look like it's going to change in the near future. If you want a white Christmas you have to go South! Really?! How strange is that! I'd really prefer Snow for Christmas, but I'm not in control of that. I do like the sun shining as you know by now.
Yesterday was a good day! I spent the whole afternoon at church helping to give out the Christmas baskets. I use that term lightly, as their were bags of gifts and blankets and boxes of food and gift cards to cub for the Ham or Turkey and tables of free stuff you could pick and choose from as well and Santa for any kids that showed up with their parents. I've never been there for that part of the process. It was so rewarding. Everyone was so grateful. One lady came back with her son once she saw we had Santa there. Didn't get home till nearly 5 p.m. but I stopped and picked up Lee Ann Chin to go, on the way. Got lots of visiting in during the down times, and lots of prayers promised for me to boot.
Last night I finally started the serious wrapping process. I set up a card table in the middle of the living room right in front of the Christmas tree and TV, so I can see both. I pretty much finished wrapping Tom's families packages, and his is the largest, so I'm 25% of the way done. Whoppee. Wrapping is one of my least favorite things to do.
Today I will be out shopping again this morning, and later this afternoon, Bonnie and I will go to Lois's home to watch a movie. (The three of us all started at the college around the same time, and became good friends and have traveled together for several years.) I bought some CD's at Target on Black Friday, and Lois doesn't have a car today, so we are going to her house to watch it. I think we will watch "Eat, Love and Pray". Then I'll come home and wrap some more. I have no choice if I want to get this job done.
Not taking my daily Imodium has helped the constipation problem, and it didn't tip the balance to the other extreme, thank goodness. Must get busy, love and prayers to all of you! m

Sunnier but Colder!
Still not bad....maybe not as high as yesterday, but still a pretty nice day. Yesterday was so beautiful, but even though it is brown in Coon Rapids, they had a light blanket of snow in Cheri's yard. Made it feel more like Christmas.
Jan and I left after church....but Jan wouldn't ride in my car unless it was clean, so she treated me to a car wash before we left. Then on the way home, she didn't like the way the color hadn't taken in places on my head, so she recolored it. We stopped at her house, and about 1/2 hr later I walked out with a much better color job.
At Cherie's we had a great time visiting, and Cherie made these great Chicken Breasts with Swiss cheese, chicken soup, white wine and some stove top stuffing. So we all had to copy the recipe, and then we had to take her felt napkin rings apart and draw patterns to take home, so we could make some for ourselves.
Thanks Cherie for hosting such a great get together of our little group. I think we originally called ourselves the 4 B's, but I don't think we do much of that anymore. We do have a hard time getting a date we can all meet, but we have managed not to miss a Christmas in years. We did have a problem getting together for our birthdays, as I started chemo the first time, and then we rescheduled and I ended up in the hospital with a blockage.
Speaking of blockages, I was beginning to feel bloated and stuffed with a little heart burn yesterday as the day went on, so when I got home I got on the computer and checked a new medication I've been taking since Tuesday, and sure enough it may cause constipation, and if taken with Imodium it could cause severe constipation. I take an Imodium every morning, so I panicked and took a gas X, and only drank liquids for the rest of the day. This morning I excluded the Imodium, and I was up going about 3 times during the night, so I'm not constipated anymore. Strange for me, as I almost always worry about diarrhea not constipation.
Today I am going over to church this afternoon, and help them distribute the Christmas baskets for nearly 300 families. Hope they don't all come at once. I've never done this part of the job. I've always bought gifts for a few, and I've wrapped gifts that needed to be wrapped, and I've filled boxes with all the necessities for Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners, but never handed it out. Should be fun to do.
Other than that, I guess I'll keep wrapping. Still have a few things to buy, but putting that off till next week, as I don't need them till the Friday after Christmas. I plan on making a little more candy, but that's it. Till tomorrow, love and prayers, m

The Sun is Going to Shine
Not yet....it's too early. Have to go to church at 8:30 a.m. and then am going to Burnsville for Brunch with a very old tradition of celebrating Christmas with Barb, Jan, Cheri and myself. I think it has happened every year for 30 or more years. I met Cheri almost 43 years ago when I was working at Jensen's Super Value and Cheri was in College. I'm not sure how I met Jan....but I know it was through St. Tim's and Barb Skierecki...at that time Barb was Sr. Barbara. So that was atleast 32 years ago.
I'm sure it will be great fun as usual.
No other plans for the day....maybe some more wrapping. That may go on for days. Don't know how I'll get it all transported to Bill and Kim's on the 30th when we open presents. May take some over in advance.
Still praying for Lottie and Louie....and asking for prayers to remove my spots and help heal my butt. Love and prayers, m

Where did the Sun Go?
That gloom is back this morning. I hope it doesn't bring me down, cause I'm feeling pretty darn good.....for the shape I'm in. They say it will clear this afternoon and we will have a bright and beautiful Sunday.
I feel like I got quite a bit done yesterday. I cleaned and filed a bunch, as well as threw out 2 bags of recycling. Got some more people invited to the CDC/TDC or whatever it was called when you worked there Reunion. Even got a few responses from those that want to come....and a few we will miss cause they will be out of town.
Later but early in the afternoon, I picked up Sandi Hitch (wow a guick trip now that 610 has extended to Elm Creek Blvd) and headed for Rosie and Bruce's for dinner with Ann and Dick Christenson. Really had a great evening. Good company, conversation and much laughter. Which I really needed. Thanks Rosie for inviting us to your beautiful home.
Today I have a little shopping to do and pick up a few groceries and then this evening, I'll go watch the CRHS Girls Hockey teams play against Blaine. One of the Varsity girls broke her collarbone, so Allie has been able to play in both games (JV and Varsity). But they are only allowed 3 periods a day, so she only gets to play in half of each game. Really great experience for Allie a ninth grader.
Please keep praying to rid those spots, as well as, for Lottie Virnig and my cousin Louie Grams. Love and prayers, m

It's a Sunny Morning!
After a couple of cold damp and gloomy days, the sun is finally shining. It may give me some energy to get something done.
Yesterday, I did get showered and dressed, and went to lunch with Laurie Lopez and Sarah Deering who both work at the college. Went to Acapulco, which I have a diner's club card for, but wouldn't you know, I couldn't find it till I got home. I think I looked at it twice while going through my billfold, and didn't recognize what it was. So dumb!! Oh well, I can use it once a month, and I'm sure I'll be back there a few more times in the next year.
After lunch I did some shopping and got a lot accomplished.
I came home and waited to see if Jimbo and Ann were going to go to a open house at our financial advisers, but Jimbo got back from Eau Claire late and by then I wasn't too interested in going out in the wind. The wind was blowing so hard when I was out for lunch it nearly blew me away...and it had gotten worse as the day went on.
I didn't get much done the rest of the evening, but did start to plan and notify former employees of the college who worked in the CDC/TDC/PTC building on the Hill or whatever they called it when you worked there. So sent out a message on Facebook for all those I am friends with, and then a separate email for those not on facebook, but I'm still missing a few emails. It was fun getting back a few responses already.
Today I need to get busy and do some cleaning, and maybe some wrapping. Then this afternoon I'm going to Rosie's (my former boss and dear friend) for dinner. I'm sure there will be lots of good conversation, much laughter and really good food.
I've contacted my friend Sheila about continuing Qigong, and I'm feeling okay about this next round of chemo. I even got a note from one of the TDC instructors who will be having radiation at HHH the same time I am there having chemo, so she will stop in and visit. She has just completed 5 months of chemo, and in January will start 6 weeks of radiation. Although Judy has already promised to come and play cards with me it's always nice to see a smiling face who's come to visit. Last year when Imelda Neis was having treatments at HHH, we got to visit a few times too. Not the best place to get to see old friends, but at the time it is uplifting.
Well off to cleaning or whatever, Love and Prayers, m

Slept the Day Away!
I didn't realize how exhausting Tuesday was....I stayed in my PJs and napped on and off all day, inbetween talking with friends on the phone and reading all the great support from my facebook friends. So not a lot to tell you about.
I am going to lunch today with Lauri Lopez to our favorite place "Acapulco". Then Rosie called last night and invited me to dinner on Friday night so those will make me get dressed both today and tomorrow.
Got up early this morning, as I guess I had finally got rested up.
I really appreciate all the thoughts and prayers, for putting me on all your prayer chains, so I know it will continue...I will get through this with all your help. Keep up the good work. Love and prayers, m

Here We Go Again!
I went down to Mayo knowing the spots were still there, but hoping maybe they had disappeared....but they didn't, in fact they are growing again, and now many that had left have returned to haunt me. This means I have to return to chemo in January. The doctor said I didn't have to do it right away, but should contact Dr. Londer in January and resume the chemo regimen I was on last summer.
I again have been praying to be cured, but I guess I'm not a good listener. He said chemo was the cure, and I wasn't finished with it yet. If at first you don't succeed, try, try, again! I will continue to pray, and hope you do too....but now I'll pray for the patience and strength to go back and finish the job!
The oncologist in Rochester said that if this doesn't work, they have a few trials going now on new drugs, and if when I go back in April this one hasn't worked, I could maybe try one of those. So there is Hope!
Okay back to Monday. It was a busy day. I went to lunch with the retiree's and wannabee's, and funny, some of the retiree's are wannabee's again. Just temporarily, but still working. Also had a new addition....Patty Wheeler Andrews joined us. So fun to see who shows up each month.
From lunch I rushed to Jan's to have my hair cut and colored. When I say cut, I really mean cut! I asked her to cut off all that chemo hair. The few long strands that were like straw....Well she did! It's not grey anymore, and there isn't any straw left, but I barely have any hair. I think I like it, but I don't recognize the person in the mirror. So don't be shocked when you see me.
I then rushed out to Judy's for dinner...left overs from her weekend of entertaining. But it really was good. From there we headed to Rochester, and got in around 7:30 or so. Played some Gin, and tried to sleep. Between my aching back and anxiousness of my appointment in the morning, I didn't sleep. I just tossed and turned all night.
Yesterday morning, I was supposed to have my blood work done at 8:30 but they were running late, and I didn't get out of there till a little after 9 a.m. and I was supposed to be across the street and up three floors at 9 for my CTscan. Well that pushed that back, and when I finally got to the point of moving to the 3rd waiting room in, they still hadn't gotten the bloodwork back from the draw at 9 a.m......sooooo needless to stay I had to wait and finally about 11 a.m. I had the CT scan, and then they take you back to another waiting room before they let you leave....to watch you to make sure you don't have a reaction to the dye. I keep telling them it's my 39th Scan and I've never had a reaction, but I have to follow the rules. So then at about 11:20 I get to move to another room where they unplug me, but not until I got to sit and wait yet again. So by 11:30 I finally got to go have lunch. Then we went back up to the ninth floor and started to wait again for my 1:45 appointment, but guess what?....I think it was about 2:15 or later before they took me into the room where we got to wait for the doctor to come in. I think it was about 3 p.m. before I got out, and then had to email the kids the news, and email Mary Ward from the Women's Club to warn her I was still in Rochester and would be late getting to the Christmas Party in Anoka.
I finally got to Judy's around 5:30 p.m. and the party was to start at 6 p.m. Rush hour on 169 meant getting to the party at 6 p.m. impossible. I did make it by 6:20 after 50 frustrating minutes of traffic. I didn't get to go home and change clothes etc. but I was just happy to be with a bunch of friends and lots of love. Only problem was they sang Christmas Carols at the end of the evening, and of course Silent Night was the last one. I cried....I couldn't even sing. So many thoughts of mom and family and the end of a really long day.
I got home around 9 p.m. and talked to Kathleen (my sister) and a few kids, and notified all my Facebook friends and then just waited for their responses.
I received such great love and support from every one and know the prayers and love will continue to support me through another 3 months of chemo. So get to work!!
Love and prayers, m

Rain or Snow?
I guess the rain won out. The temps must have warmed up over night, cause the snow or freezing drizzle didn't happen. So pray the road stay safe for my trip to Rochester later this afternoon.
Yesterday, I did very little. I did take a nap and watched most of the Viking game....don't know why I bother, but they do make it exciting. I also putzed on some cute christmas snacks, and started filling the bags I give all the grandkids. I also fixed myself a small pot roast, with lots of carrots, onions and celery. Wow did it taste great. So even though I didn't go shopping I did get a few things done. Oh, I also packed for today, and speaking of that, I'm not taking my computer along. I have my blackberry, and will check it, and when I get to the clinic tomorrow, they have computers available so I can blog there. That means I won't do that till 11 a.m. or so.
Today I have a luncheon date with the retiree's from ARCC, then I have a hair appointment at 2 p.m., and then I'm off to pick up Judy and dinner and head for Rochester.
So that's all I have for today, look for me to write later tomorrow and I'll even later update the blog with the results of my CT scan. I'll need lots of prayers! and don't forget all the others I've asked for prayers too! Love and prayers, m

Christmas is coming!
My tree is up and decorated, except for the tinsel. That's a job I'll start later in the week. No time to write this morning, got to leave for church in 10 minutes, so I'll write when I get home...don't want any of you worrying about me today. m
I"m back! Got to church, and am ready for a nap. I didn't sleep well again last night....I'm beginning to think it is knowing I have to get up at 7 a.m. that is the problem....cause I sleep pretty well when I don't have to get up early.
Yesterday went well, exactly at 9 a.m. Annie, Doug and the family arrived and went right to work, by the time they left at 11 a.m. then had put up the tree, and completely decorate it, and I baked a couple dozen cookies and made hot chocolate for everyone.
Matthew found the pickle hidden on the tree, and grabbed his candy cane happily till he unwrapped it and found out it was peppermint. I told him all candy canes were peppermint, and he told me at daycare they have different flavors....like watermelon! I told him they couldn't be candy canes, but he was pretty sure they were. What is this world coming to?
After they left I made a batch of candy made from club crackers and almonds, along with some butter and sugar! Now only have a few more things to make....I'm almost done.
Around 3 p.m. Ann, Jack and Nick arrived and they found the tree top angel and skirt for the tree, and set up my Nativity scene and finished putting out the decorations for the upstairs. I decided we didn't need to decorate downstairs, cause I don't plan on entertaining down there this year. I couldn't not put up the Nativity scene, as I've had it since our very fist Christmas....that and four glass balls that have survived all 49 years.
I haven't put the tinsel on yet, but will start that maybe Wednesday. I leave for Rochester tomorrow, and have my scan on Tuesday, along with the Women's club Christmas party on Tuesday evening. So I don't think I'll have time till Wednesday to sit quietly and put strands of tinsel on. I thought about not doing that either, but I don't think it would be my Christmas tree without it. I carefully put it on and take it off each year, saving it from year to year, as you haven't been able to buy lead tinsel since the seventies.
I've also put off writing my Christmas letter and sending out cards. I want to wait till after the scan on Tuesday. Kind of a superstition I guess....don't want to write anything positive or negative till I know what the doctor has to say. Please pray that it's positive news.
Well better get that short nap before the Vikings start. Love and prayers, m

Click the Publish Button!
Sorry about that. I got up and wrote my blog as usual yesterday....maybe a little later than normal....but not that much, and went on with my day. Later in the day, Phil emailed wondering if I was okay, and I replied that I was fine and that my blog was a little late, but I had written it. Then while I was showering and getting ready to go to cousin Judy's for dinner, Doug came over to check on me.....said Annie had called a couple of times and I didn't answer and I hadn't written the blog, so they were worried about me. I was in the shower when she called, and I went online to check on my blog, and realized I hadn't pushed the Publish Button. So I did and thus it wasn't available to be read till about 4:15 or so.
Dinner with Judy and June and Len was great, and then the Christmas Pageant that Jessie (Judy's granddaughter) was in was so cute and I loved it. It was called the "Best Christmas Pageant Ever" different than any Christmas Pageant I've ever seen before and Jessie and company did a great job. They have a lot of great talent there.
After the show we all went back to Judy's along with Jessie and her parents and her other grandma. Judy had enough food to feed an army....I don't know if we put a dent in it or not....but we tried. I know that Lenard and I finished off the herring. It was a very good evening, Thanks Judy!
This morning I'm expecting the kids to come and put up and trim my Christmas Tree, and I'm making some cookies and treats for munching on today, and I'll save the rest for any surprise company I get during the holidays!
Looks like the sun is coming out to help make it a great day, and it's supposed to be even nicer and warmer tomorrow. Looks like we might have some snow on Monday, but hopefully the drive down to Mayo won't be too bad. The trip back on Tuesday looks clear too.
I've had some birds at my feeder lately, and I just noticed a woodpecker and as I was watching him a big Flicker came and chased the woodpecker away. I've also seen Cardinals, Junco's and chickadees this week. I guess I better refill it soon.
Well off to bake some cookies! Love and Prayers, m

Good Morning Sunshine
Not as cold as yesterday and the Sun is shining brightly. I can't ask for more than that!
I got some more shopping done yesterday, and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Asked for suggestions for restaurant gift cards for the grandkids and all responded quickly, so that will be easy. Went to the grocery store to buy a few things to make more treats. I may let the kids help tomorrow, if we get the tree up and decorated quickly. Don't think I'll bring out much more decorations than for the tree and upstairs. Not having Christmas here, so I don't have to worry about the basement this year....but may bring some of my snowmen to the cabin for our non progressive.
I also went and had Sheila do some more Qigong on me. It is already working, an slept so well last night. Even fell a sleep on the couch for an hour and a half before hitting the bed. My back and tail bone feel better too! I promised her I'd let her know how the Scan goes next week, and she will do some more work on me if need be. Thank you, Thank you, thank you.
After all that, I went to the CRHS Hockey games. JV won, and the Varsity almost won....had tied it up 3-3 and then with just a few minutes left to play and CR had pulled the goalie, Anoka scored!! It was a good game.
Today I'll clean house and get ready for the tree raising tomorrow, and then I'm going out to Judy's for dinner and her granddaughters Christmas program. Should be a fun evening.
Hoping to have several elves tomorrow to help me decorate, many hands make light work. I'm going to bake some cookies and make some other goodies to go along with their hot chocolate. Love and prayers, m

Another Sunny Day
Unfortunately it is only 17 degrees out there. But I have to go out anyway! Got Kathleen and Gary's package wrapped and got to get it to the PO today. Have to deliver some packages to church and pick up a few things at the grocery store. Then at 3:30 Qigong and then hockey. So it will be a busy day.
Yesterday I got a lot of things done, but you can hardly tell. Got 3 loads of wash done....but it took a while, cause when I went down to take the second load out of the washer and put it in the dryer, I realized I never turned on the dryer for the first load....so I had to wait for that first load to dry before I could add the second and put the third load into the washer.
Had a good night of sleep, however I didn't fall asleep till sometime after 2 p.m. I tried a few things, and finally got up and took a hot bath, and that seemed to do the trick.....By the way Kathleen, Dr. Oz is wrong!!
Well lots to do, so talk to you tomorrow. Love and prayers, m

We Celebrate the Feast of St. Ambrose Today!
Yep, December 7th in our daily missile, was the Feast of St. Ambrose, so our day to honor my dad. I've been thinking about him all week, knowing that this day was coming. What was the first thing he would say when you came to his house or cabin? "Do you want a beer?" My answer was always a NO, but I'm pretty sure Gene's was always a loud and clear YES. One of Gene's sayings that I remember him saying a lot, was "It's never to hot for a cup of coffee, or too cold for a beer". I don't know if dad felt the same way about coffee, but when it came to beer he sure did.
The sun is shining again this morning, Thanks Dad! It's also going to be warmer today than yesterday, but I only got out a couple of times yesterday, and didn't really notice the cold too much!
Today I don't have any big plans at all....I do have to do laundry, and will wrap the gifts for Kathleen and Gary, and get it to the Post Office. Other than that a lazy day.
My butt seems to be getting slightly better, I slept okay last night, not as well as the night before, but wasn't tossing and turning trying to get to sleep. Going back for another dose of Qigong tomorrow....trying everything to make sure I don't have to go back to chemo....hoping for a big Chirstmas present from the doctor next week.
Love and Prayers, m

St Nick Brought the Sun!
Wow....I slept so much better last night, and didn't get up till nearly 9 a.m....the best part was waking up to the sunshine. It's darn cold out there, but I don't have to go out till later in the day.
Yesterday I actually took down my Halloween decorations to get ready for Saturday's tree raising and decorating. I've invited all the kids to come and help. Those artificial trees are heavy and hard to put up for an old lady by herself. I'm enticing them with cookies and hot chocolate.
I went to the airport to pick up Judy, and only had to circle once to find her. She wanted to make a Senior Group meeting that started at 1 p.m.....She didn't land till 12:18 and believe it or not, we arrived at the meeting at 1:04 p.m. How good is that?!
After the meeting I took Judy home to drop off her suitcases and figure out where to go for dinner. We decided on a Diner's Club deal at the Arizona Grill by Canterbury, but it was only 4 p.m. and we were the only ones in the place....until we left at 5. Really quiet, but the meal was good. After that I took Judy home, and I started out to fight the crowded highway all the way home. Don't think I got to drive the speed limit from Hopkins all the way home....cept on Foley Blvd the last mile. Uggghhh!
Don't have plans today till this evening, when I get to celebrate Christmas with the card club. So the season officially begins!
As I mentioned earlier I slept well last night, and my butt seems to be a little better. The Qigong must be working.....along with your prayers. I also had a big surprise last night....my FF team beat the highest team in my division. I wasn't even paying any attention to my team points last night as I didn't think I had a chance to beat Nicole....but some how, my 2 running backs managed to score enough points to put me ahead by 4 points! I'm only third place in my division, but I've earlier this fall tied with the number one (Nick) in the other division too. So even though I'm not winning all the time, it's fun to beat the big ones!!
Well off to start another craft project. Love and prayers, m

Eve of St. Nick!
Have you been good? Once when I was little, the bag of goodies at our door was potatoes and onions,(had coal been available it would have been that) instead of Fruit, nuts and hard candy. Kind of the reminder that it is Advent, and we are to remember the coming of the Lord....be watchful...of he who is to come. Now Santa is forefront in our minds. Santa has evolved from St. Nicholas who was a Bishop whose family left him a lot of money, and he chose to do good deeds with it. One of which was throwing a bag of gold coins into a house of a poor man with three daughters, and he was contemplating sending them into prostitution as he couldn't afford a dowry for them. Thus St. Nick saved them from this fate. Our family has continued this tradition of our childhood, and St. Nick even sends packages through the mail and I have my children delivering the candy, fruit and nuts to their children, including a bag of gold foil covered chocolates.....so hope this saves all my grandchildren too. Be watchful tonight!!
This is the poem:
Spirit of Christmas
by Edward Hays
St. Nicholas, holy patron of children
Saintly and generous bishop.
Inspire us to give gifts
Of ourselves and our time.
Give us your blessing
So that we might fill with sincerity
Each greeting we speak and send.
Smiling saint of sweets and toys,
Help us stay youthful and mirthful,
Playful and joyful so that we can celebrate
Every day as Christmas.
Patron Saint of generosity,
Arouse us to an evergreen extravagance
In loving and in giving gifts
To those we love and to the poor.
Patron of the un-thanked,
Who always slips away
Before you can be thanked,
Incite us to be like you.
Yesterday I thought the Vikes played at 3 p.m. (I guess there was a change in the schedule) and when I turned on the TV there was only 3 minutes left to play. I guess I should have turned it off immediately, cause in that 3 minutes they went from winning to loosing. My fantasy football is looking like that too. I do have 2 players yet to play this evening, but I don't know if either of them can score enough to bring me a win.
I worked on doing some crafts and putting out some Christmas decorations.....not many but the bathroom is done.
Today I am going out to the airport at noon to pick up my cousin Judy, so she doesn't have to wait for her son Mike to get off of work. She has a meeting in Shakopee that she wants to make also. She'll be late, but her report is going to be last on the agenda.
Had a similar night last night as the one before. I finally fell asleep at about 4 a.m.....and then woke up again at 6 to go to the bathroom and then fell back asleep till 8:15. I can't even consider the time I was not sleeping as resting, cause I was tossing and turning trying to find a position that didn't make my back and legs ache. Say some prayers that I sleep tonight. Thoughts and prayers for you, m

Better Late Than Never
Church on Sunday morning now starting at 8:30 really plays havoc with my blogging. Not time before church, and as I usually do it right away in the morning, church and going out to breakfast....I forget to write! I also had a really bad night....I don't know if it's because I go to bed early (if you call 11 p.m. early) or I'm concerned about getting up at 7 a.m.....or if it was still part of the Qigong working (Sheila said it would get worse before it got better) Well my back was killing me all night, I tossed and turned and slept very little. I was up walking around, taking pills, and even eating a bowl of the 12 bean soup that had been cooking since before I went to the hockey game at 6 p.m. Anyway, I went out for breakfast after church with Carolyn and Gary Buhr and their grandson, and two other members of the church choir (Gary sings in the choir too). First time I've been out for breakfast with them in a couple of months. Love visiting with them all, and have really missed not hitting the Mass that the choir was singing at.
By the time I got home, I was exhausted and started reading the paper, but decided to take a nap instead....thus why I'm just getting to this.
Vikings come on in a few minutes, so I won't make this too long. Ohhhhh noooo! I thought the game started at 3 p.m. and theirs only 3 minutes left and we're winning.
Oh well, so much for football today.
I went to Nicole and Allie's hockey game last night, and even though they each scored a goal they lost 3-2. It has been a great season for them so far, they have won 5 and now lost 2. I purposely didn't stay for the Varsity game last night as I knew I had to get up early this morning, and it was snowing, but as I reported above I might as well have stayed.
Delivered St. Nick's goody's to Jimbo's earlier in the day, and got my grocery shopping done, but no Christmas shopping. Doesn't look like I'll do any of that today either.
Will try and write early again tomorrow, but have to pick Judy up from the airport, and right now, I don't know what time she will get on a flight. We'll see!!!
Love and prayers, m

No Sun.....Watch Out Snow is On It's Way!
I'm hoping they are right and we in the North West of the Twin Cities won't get much and with any luck I won't have to drive to anywhere that does in the near future.
I didn't get dressed or leave the house yesterday, but I really got a lot of things done. I wrapped some things and am ready for the week of gift giving. I made some things, I cleaned some, and really feel good about what I accomplished.
Today I will go out....I have to buy some groceries....and deliver a package to Jim and Ann's....and maybe do a little Christmas shopping.
Been feeling a little better each day since I saw Sheila, been doing my exercises she gave me to do, and drinking lots of water. Nothing else new to report.
I forwarded a message from cousin Ginny the other day and a few people thought it was about me, I'll be more careful when I forward messages about doctors reports in the future and tell people at the top who it is from.
Okay, I won't bore you with anymore dribble. Till tomorrow, Love and Prayers, m

Happy 19th Birthday Jack!
Jack, my oldest grandson turns 19 today. Wow how the time flys. I can remember the whole family gathered at the hospital waiting for his arrival. So exciting! The picture I'm including is of Jack the oldest grandson, and Matthew the youngest grandson wishing on the Thanksgiving Turkey wishbone. I'm sure you can guess, Matthew won! Hope you have a great Sunny day Jack, love ya lots!
Another Sunny cold day out there, I think the temperature is 17 right now. That's freezing!! Brrrrrr! It's cozy here in the house in my comfy chair! It may take me awhile to get out of this comfy chair and do some more shopping and running of errands.
Yesterday, I did get out and do some shopping before going to the movie with Bonnie and Lois.
The movie was very good, and of course George was fantastic, and there was hardly a scene without him in it...lots of George viewing! The scenary of Hawaii was great too! Thought about my nephew Nate and my cousin Elaine who get to live there all the time. How lucky!
After the movie we went to dinner and spent a few hours visiting. I hadn't seen Bonnie since last month, so it's always nice to get caught up with her. I get to see Lois a little more often, but not always where we can really visit.
Watch the CMA Country Christmas last night. Loved all the great Christmas music, and like the night before really puts me in the mood. I may have to find the all Christmas Music channel on my radio.
Been working on a few craft projects, which are coming along, and wrapping the things I got for the children on the trees at church that I bought for....and the gifts for card club, cause that is next Tuesday already. Whew!!! it all comes so fast.
Better start moving, got a message from Ginny (my cousin) and she is doing good, however will need further treatment, chemo and/or radiation, she won't find out till just before Christmas, we're all hoping and praying she gets a good report!
I'm doing well too, I've slept pretty well both nights since my qigong session. I'm looking forward to another next week. Well I'm off, love and prayers, m

Snow!! Clean and White
It does look beautiful to have that dull brown and gray world covered with a coat of white....and as long we don't get dumped on....I don't mind. Plus I didn't have to drive in it. But this morning, the little we got was just enough to make the sun look even brighter!
I woke up yesterday with a huge sinus headache, and no matter what I took or did, it wasn't going away. I tried Flonase, hot coffee, my allergy pill, pressure points and a couple of ibuprofen and muscinex.....to no avail. I had a 2 p.m. dentist appointment to get my teeth cleaned, and that I think made it worse. So buy the time I got to Sheila's house in Maple Grove at 3:30 p.m. I was about to scream. She sat me down, and me take some deep breaths and try to relax, and then she took over doing her qigong on me. (a Chinese form of working with the energy (Chi)) I really don't know how she does it, as I have my eyes closed and she never touches me....but by the time she was done, my headache was totally gone, and it didn't return this morning. Yippee!! As for my other problems, she said it may get worse before it gets better, and gave me some homework to help get it loosened up and out of my body. I have to drink lots of fluids, and another exercise they call cupping. I did sleep a little better last night, so I wouldn't say my pains were actually worse, maybe a little better, but not gone yet. I am going back again next week, so we'll see how that goes. Sheila said my overall energy was very good, and that she did a lot of work on my liver, to clear out the residuals of the chemo. All stuff we can't see, but she can. I know it sounds really weird, but it works and that's all that maters.
Today I have some errands and shopping to do this morning, and this afternoon, I am going to see George Clooney's latest movie and maybe dinner with Lois and Bonnie. Bonnie and I go to see all George's movies, just to look at him, but I hear this is supposed to be really good....so we'll see about that too!
I watched the lighting of the Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center last night and really got me in the mood for doing some decorating of the house. Matthew even noticed that I still had some Halloween decorations up at Thanksgiving, so I guess it's time I put that all away and brought out some Angels and snowmen.
Hope you have a wonderful day, love and prayers, m
Sun May Give Us Record
Either it will be the 9th warmest November.....or the 10th, depending on how warm it gets today!! I know several of you would love snow....but I sure appreciate the sun and warmth!
Yesterday was a pretty quiet day, didn't do any shopping, and the only time I left the house was to go to the CRHS girls hockey games. By the way the JV won again, and the Varsity didn't. Sad thing, the girls didn't get home till about 10 or so, and had to be back at the Rink this morning at 5:30. Hope they didn't have much homework, so they got some sleep. Hopefully it is just a one time deal.
The other interesting thing about yesterday was some surprise great memories. I watch Polka Spotlight everyday at lunch, and yesterday the band that was playing was the Tony Jambor band. Tony was the prior owner of the Bellrae Ballroom in Mounds View, and prior to that, he and his band played regularly for the KC dances that in the 70's Gene and I and a big crowd from Midwest Printing all went there for their dances. I can remember passing the hat to make Tony Play past 1 a.m., and he'd send his band home and he'd continue to play his accordion till 2 or 3 a.m. I guess I was a lot younger then! After dancing we'd sometimes go out for breakfast or back to my mom and dad's to party even longer. What fun we had. Yesterday, he had me dancing and smiling all the way to the kitchen to get my lunch. Then later in the day I got an email from Imelda Neis, who was one of the gang dancing at the KC's and her husband Joe was one of Gene's best friends. She also saw the show, and was remembering all the great times we had. Love it!!
Today, I have a dentist appointment to get my teeth cleaned, and then I'm going to Sheila Judd's home to have a Qigong treatment. Qigong is meditation and healing, and I'm really looking forward to it. Sheila worked at ARCC with me, and is now a Qigong Master.
No plans for this evening. I may do some shopping on my way home, but not sure. Two weeks till I go to Rochester Mayo for my CT scan so thinking about that a lot. Please say some prayers for a good outcome. Love and prayers, m

Winter Sun
Its cooler today...Swen says it's normal....but we've been so spoiled so far this Fall. I'm really not complaining, cause I haven't been out of the house yet. Just going by the weatherman.
I got up, I thought at 8 a.m., but when I got to the kitchen, all the clocks were flashing, and I had to turn on the computer to see what time it really was. 9 a.m.!!! So I guess I got a good nights sleep. I went to work resetting all the clocks. I don't know when we had to bleep in the electric. It could have been while I was out last night....I really didn't look at the clocks in the kitchen when I returned.
I went to lunch yesterday with the ARCC gang, and it was all retiree's except for 2. Pretty much the same crowd as get together at the retiree's lunch each month, except for one! Cindy Nutter joined us for the first time, she retired in June, but has been so busy she's never made the monthly lunches at Pizza Hut. She's never made the Retiree's lunches either, but we might see her in a couple of weeks for that too!
After lunch I did a little shopping, and picked up a few more gifts, and came home and waited to go out for dinner.
For dinner the FF group met at Claughdagh's Irish Pub in Maple Grove. Dinner was good, and the conversations are always good. On my way home, I again returned to Kohls, where I had shopped earlier in the day, but this time to return one item and get an adjustment on two others that they had rung up incorrectly. ($10 more than they were advertised) So now I think I'm finished getting those things I wanted from Kohls. Wish I could say that I was finished with all the shopping, but I'm getting there.
Today I have no plans, except maybe watching the Biggest Loser Make-Over show this evening. I need to see if the girls have a hockey game too. I need to find my schedule for that.
Still asking for prayers for my butt and all those other people on my list. Love and prayers, m

Sunny Cyber Morning
I don't know if many of you will be reading this today, as you'll be busy doing your shopping on your computer. But for those who are, I guess I better fill in the blanks from the Holiday weekend.
Dinner turned out great on Thursday....I didn't forget anything in the fridge....and everything was cooked and on time. We planned our shopping day for Friday, and the grandkids worked on their lists for grandma.
Friday morning, I met with Annie and Carrie and we shopped till we dropped. This year I was much smarter....I ordered the heavy Bath and Body stuff online, so I didn't have to carry them through the MOA. Also bought Old Navy stuff at Riverdale, so we carried it directly to the car, instead of waiting for the MOA....we only went to the stores that were not at Riverdale at the MOA. Mostly we went to the MOA for lunch at Tucci Bennuci...tradition to celebrate Carrie's birthday. When I got home I barely moved for the rest of the evening....but I didn't stop shopping....I ordered from four different stores online....not waiting for today to do that.
Saturday I thought I would go back out shopping, but only made it to a few stores at Northtown, and came back home to rest!
Sunday I started out early with church and then came home to watch the Vikings lose again! But at least they made it interesting. My FF team faired much better....I won by a lot. I read all the ads and got a little more organized as to who I still needed to buy for etc. But I didn't leave home to shop or buy anything online. I did get my laundry done, which I had been putting off all weekend.
Today I have lunch and dinner plans, and I may shop in-between. I have a $30 Kohls cash certificate that I can use starting today, so may go there for sure. We'll see how that goes. I'm way over half way there, but some years I'm 90% done on Black Friday.
So that's my weekend. I got up with another sinus headache and stuffed up, and a little sore throat where the sinuses were draining during the night. But hot coffee seemed to work for that, and also helped the headache...or maybe it was the sunshine.
I may try doing some Cyber Monday shopping before I leave for lunch...so better get busy. Love and prayers, m

Dodged the Snow
It was a dull gray day....with of and on spurts of drizzle....and a wind that blew in cold, but not cold enough to snow. The weather man said it will bring in some clearning at some point today....but so far it's about the same as yesterday.
I have church early this morning, and then I'll be home to watch the Vikings....I don't know why, but seems like a bad habit. I might venture out to shop....but I'll wait and see what the ads say.
I need to finish getting ready, so I'll write more later. Love and prayers, m

Snow Again?
Two weeks in a row? It was so beautiful the last two days I can't believe they are predicting snow again tonight.
As I warned you on Thanksgiving, yesterday I shopped until I dropped!!! I wonder why they call it Black Friday? I think it should be called Green Friday. Green for Go!!! and Green for money!! What's black for? Stop? Well any way I didn't stop, I shopped from 6 a.m. till about 3 or so with Annie and niece Carrie.(Annie went shopping a Midnight for a few hours, then went home and slept for a couple hours and then took her old mom and pregnant cousin shopping) Annie had to be back for a Hockey tournament the girls are in, and Carrie and Jason had a dinner date. So I then returned to shopping, but was actually home by 4:30, and then went to work at ordering some things online that I couldn't find in the stores, but I still have lots to do. I may go out again today, but I also have to get a few groceries....not many, but I'm totally out of bread, so I'll run quickly through Cub.
Don't have a lot more to report, I'm still fighting this sinus thing, and the weather doesn't help that at all. My feet were killing me when I got home yesterday, but they have bounced back this morning....so I can go out again today.
I couldn't believe how quiet Target and Kohls were at 6 a.m., I missed the hustle and bustle of the 6 a.m. opening, however, I found that even though the Mall of American opened at Midnight too, it was just as crowded as usual there, except for the line at lunch....walked up at 11 a.m. and got a table immediately....so nice!!!
All and all it was a successful day! Hope your's was too! Love and prayers, m

Happy Thanksgiving!!
God must know I like the sun....it's shining bright, and it's a start to what could be a record warm Thanksgiving day. I'm so happy. Thanks for all the well wishes I've already received by email, and also to Aunt Loretta and Janet for their calls yesterday to wish me "Happy Thanksgiving" I talked to Kathleen the night before last, but she said she'd call me back this afternoon to give me her wishes. I wish all of you a wonderful meal today, but mostly a healthy and happy day with family and friends.
I've been thinking of what I am thankful for this day, and over and over again it's you!! Thank you all for being here for me....I can't even begin to mention all the things you have done for me. I see God's love in each of you, and it is abundant!! You see it's not only the Son that shines on me....How lucky can I be?
Yesterday I managed to do some cleaning the last minute things like bathroom and living room. Then I got the stuffing made and the spinach dip....I ran to Costco in the morning and cheated and bought the buns, and some sparkling non-alcoholic grape juice for the kids. I asked Doug to stop on his way home and help me get the folding table in from the garage and set it up. With fourteen of us, I put it at the end of the dining-room table and made room for all. So I then set the table and all I have left to do today is put that turkey in the roaster and peel potatoes.....but I have all day to do the potatoes...I'm sure it'll be a great dinner. The rest is being made by the girls. Annie is bringing sweet potatoes, Ann scalloped corn and Kim is bringing cole slaw and raw veggies.
Tomorrow I'll be shopping til I drop as usual with Annie and niece Carrie....so probably wont write in the morning. Watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade, but gotta get that turkey in soon....so better get busy with that! Love and prayers, m

The Sun is Here to Greet Me!
Love to see the sun. Yesterday I did run up to the cabin and as I drove some where near Maple Lake, the sun gave me a small glimpse, and I smiled all the rest of the way to the lake. I don't know how long it lasted....it didn't matter it just made my day. I was able to resurrect an old tree laying in my patio at home and think it looks pretty good where it is.
I did make it back in time to eat some dinner and head out to the CRHS Hockey games. The JV won and Allie got one of the goals. Varsity didn't fare as well. Matt and Carol were also there, so got a chance to visit with Carol.
Yesterday I finished my last of a 14 day dose of antibiotics for my butt, and I'm still not pain free in that area, so I contacted Sheila Judd, a friend and former ARCC employee. Sheila was in charge of some of the non-traditional health and healing programs, and left to work with Chun Yi Lin and became a Master of Qigong. She used to work on me fairly regularly and even came to the hospital when I had a couple of my surgeries, but haven't had any Qigong in over a year. I decided it was time, and she has been able to work me into her schedule twice before I go to have my CT scan. So hoping for a lot of good energy.
Got to get busy today....a little shopping at Costco, cleaning, cooking and then tomorrow I'll only have the turkey, potatoes and dressing to worry about. I'll be ready for Thanksgiving, and of course Black Friday!!!
Love and prayers, m

Yet Another Gray Day!!
I know the sun is above them somewhere, but I'd really like to see it! Gray, cold and damp, makes me slow, groggy, and cold. Thus I'm slow in writing this today.
I got up at about the same time as yesterday, but with no plans till late afternoon, and lack of sun, I'm just getting to this.
Yesterday, I started out with packing boxes for Thanksgiving dinners for 125 families. The parish has more than that, but single person homes, get a gift certificate to Cub, as they wouldn't be cooking a big turkey dinner for themselves. I guess we had a lot more people there then they expected, so it really went fast. We divided up into 5 groups of 25 boxes each and went to work filling them. Within 30 minutes we had filled all 125 boxes with everything you need for Thanksgiving dinner, plus a few extra's like fruit, breakfast cereal, napkins, toilet paper, paper towels, hand and dish soap.
I teamed up with Mary Holmgren, who happened to be Annie's track coach and teacher at CRHS and in turn Annie coached her daughters at Blaine HS. She has recently retired, but subs now and then and has seen Annie often throughout the years. So fun to catch up on her family and her mine.
When leaving, another friend and mother of Bill's long time friend Tim Koffski, needed a ride home, so I got to take Clarice home and visit with her as well. So not only did I do some volunteering, but had fun visiting too!
In the afternoon, I did a little more shopping, at a few more stores and got a few more things for Christmas. With 18 plus people to buy for, it takes me a while to get it all. I've got a few projects I've started, and today I have to run to the cabin to get all my scrapbooking supplies that I moved to the cabin for the summer, and bring it back to work on Christmas projects. So that's the plan for the day.
Later this afternoon, when I get back, I get to watch Nicole and Allie play hockey against Andover. Don't know if I'll stick around for the Varsity game, but we'll see.
Heard that Lottie will start chemo in December right before I have my CT scan and a few days later her husband will have surgery as well. So send lots of prayers her way in the next month. Louie, Ginny and several other's on my list still need prayers too. Even though the sun isn't shining.....I know the Son is watching over us all. That's what I am thankful for this year, how about you?! Love and prayers, m

Gray Again!!
I don't have a lot of time to write this morning, as I'm going to church to help fill the Thanksgiving baskets....and I have to be there at 9:30.
I finished watching hockey for the weekend, and turned to Football. Both the Vikings and my FF did terrible. I don't even have a Viking on my FF team. Oh Well, Gary my Brother-in-law will be doublely happy again this week. I have one player yet to play tonight, but a kicker can't get you 30 points. Yah, I lost by that much.
I went over to Michaels after the game and I got a few things. The store was really crowded, as they had a 25% off coupon for everything in the store. I got a few more Christmas presents....that makes me feel really good.
Other than volunteering this morning at church, I don't have big plans for the day. Got to start getting ready for Thursday. I've my shopping all done, just need to dig out the dishes and get the house ready. Most of the food I can't get ready till Thursday morning. So I won't worry about that.
Okay, must be off....till tomorrow, Love and Prayers, m

I went over to Michaels after the game and I got a few things. The store was really crowded, as they had a 25% off coupon for everything in the store. I got a few more Christmas presents....that makes me feel really good.
Other than volunteering this morning at church, I don't have big plans for the day. Got to start getting ready for Thursday. I've my shopping all done, just need to dig out the dishes and get the house ready. Most of the food I can't get ready till Thursday morning. So I won't worry about that.
Okay, must be off....till tomorrow, Love and Prayers, m

Sorta Sun!
A little cloudy....but the white snow makes it look really bright. Got up bright and early this morning, to be at the rink before Kennedy's 8 a.m. consolation game. But it was good....they won 6-0 and Kennedy scored!!! Hurrah!
Yesterday, I went to Kennedy's 1:10 game, and it was a doozy....tied 1-1 they went into a 5 min. overtime and came out still tied, so they had to have a shoot out, and the other team scored 1 goal and we didn't. Then we took off in the snow for Champlin to see the second and third period of the CRHS Varsity game. Nicole and Allie played in the JV game at the same time as Kennedy was playing her game. Allie scored and got an assist, and Nicole got an assist, in a 4-0 win. Then Allie suited for the Varsity game, but didn't see the ice....but they also won....I think 3-0.
After that, I headed to Carbone's Pizzeria and got some pizza to take back to the hotel where Karen was staying. Had pizza and visited for a short time, and the little ones wanted to swim, so Ann and Karen went to the pool, but pools chemicals bother my eyes so I stayed in the room for a while, and then headed home.
Went to bed early so I could get up early this morning to watch more Hockey. Now I'm hockey free till Tuesday when the CRHS girls take on Andover. My sinus stuff is getting better, at least I didn't wake up with a head ache this morning. My butt seems to be a little better each day too. Maybe some time in the near future it won't hurt at all.

Waiting for the Snow
Dull, Gray, and humid.....snow on the way, and I woke up with a sinus headache. Ever since I got back from Georgia, I've been battling this silly cough and sinus thing that hasn't ever become full bloom, but just enough to annoy me. I know having the furnace running a lot more doesn't help either. I'm taking my allergy pills, mucinex, and flounase every now and then a couple of nights I've taken a decongestant. But not all at once...I've just kind of rotate trying to find something that will end this. Now I've added cough drops to the mix. They seem to make me feel better for a few minutes. My morning hot coffee seems to help too!
Yesterday Jimbo had my van, and left his truck so I opted to wait for him to return til I went shopping for my thanksgiving turkey. While I was waiting Karen, Emily, Kennedy and Presley showed up around 1 p.m. or so. What a wonderful surprise. Presley was so antsie after sitting in the car for hours that she just could sit still. Kennedy was just the opposite and looked like she needed a nap. Karen and Em were the only two looking fresh!! They only stayed a while and went on to surprise somemore of the Coon Rapids crew. Especially Emily!! She had told her cousins she couldn't come, and they were on their way to Nicole and Allies' hockey practice to surprise them.
The whole family gathered at the rink to watch Kennedy play last night. The rest of the grandkids huddled together in the bleachers talking and giggling and hugging. It is so fun to see them all together (well, most of them together....Jack's in college and Kennedy on the ice.) Kennedy unfortunately lost the first game, but it didn't seem to bother her. She was in with the gang smiling and talking with her cousins.
Today she plays again at 1 p.m. and I'll be there watching her, but the Stalboergers and probably Emily will be in Champlin watching the High School teams. Allie and Nicole play at 1 as well....and Varsity plays at 3 p.m. I figure this will be my only chance to watch Kennedy, so this is her weekend.
Don't know what this afternoon and evening will bring, but hoping we can do something all together, or part of us together. Jimbo and Nick left early this morning to drive to Naperville and watch Will's hockey game at 1 p.m. there, and then to see a Bear's game tomorrow. Tom was hoping to get tickets for him and Will, so that they could join Jimbo and Nick.
Nothing new to report on my prayers list. Even though I don't talk about it much, my butt still bothers me, and I could use some butt prayers. Love and prayers, m

Here Comes the Sun!
Followed by the snow tomorrow. The weatherman said we should enjoy today, cause tomorrow it will be a different story. Possibly up to 2 inches by the time it's done. So thankful Karen and the girls are driving up from Naperville in good conditions today. Hopefully when they leave it'll be all cleared up and great roads too.
I got up early this morning, as Jimbo came and took my mini-van to have an oil change and get a new set of tires. Hopefully nothing more than that. But in exchange he left me his big pickup truck. I was going to go shopping for next weeks groceries, but may put that off till tomorrow. I'm not sure I want to take that to a big parking lot full of cars. We'll see how brave I get.
This evening the Naperville women will arrive for a hockey tournament at the Super Rink in Blaine. Well, they better arrive earlier this afternoon, as they skate at 6:50 p.m.....the sooner they come the better.
We're all looking forward to seeing Kennedy skate, and she should have a good crowd of family members there watching. I'm guessing Presley and Matthew will spend a lot of time together this weekend too.
My friend Lottie is recovering well from her surgery of last week, will see the doctor on Monday to find out what their plans are for her. Haven't heard anything from Cousin Ginny yet, but I'm hoping no news is good news. Keep them and me in your prayers. I go back on December 13 for another CT scan, and hope that the spots are smaller or gone, or at the very least unchanged and I will have another 3 months of freedom from chemo.
Read my cousin Louie's caringbridge site this morning, and Mayo has told him they don't think there is anything more they can do for him than his doctors here are already doing. His autonomic system failure is incurable. He has strong faith and knows God will take care of him, and it is all in His Hands. So please keep him in your thoughts and prayers too. Till tomorrow, love and prayers, m

Another Sunny Cold Morning!
OMG in the teens this morning!!! It just doesn't seem possible with that bright sunshine out there. Coldest night since last March wheeeewwww!!! Their talking about snow possibility on Saturday.....really? Isn't it too soon for that? Hoping that doesn't happen.
Yesterday I delivered my Meals on Wheels, and it took almost 1/2 hour less time this week as I knew where the houses were. Drove right too each one, didn't even have to look at the list to see which was next a couple of times. I'll have to do that route more often.
After that I drove to Panera at Knollwood in Hopkins.....meeting Judy for lunch. She is flying to California this morning, and I hadn't seen her since we got home from the wedding a couple weeks ago. We talked for almost 2 hours...never a dull moment updating each other on our trials and tribulations of being husband-less! Judy had a rough week trying to put up Christmas decorations before leaving town.
Before I left to deliver MOW I realized that Doug's suburban was in my driveway. I walked out to the mailbox and then around to the backyard and there he was on a ladder cleaning out my gutters! What a great son-in-law I have!!! Thank you Doug!! Not only does he catch mice well, but he cleans garages and now gutters even better!!! I guess Annie knows how to pick'em!! What would I do without my family.
Today I really need to clean house and start getting ready for Thanksgiving next week. Only one week to get organized. Also have to try and figure out what to shop for on Black Friday. With 18+ on my list I better get busy.
Hoping all went well with Ginny's surgery yesterday, please keep the prayers coming for Ginny and all those I have on my list to pray for, and please include me too! Love and prayers, m

Sunshine Again!! Yipee!!
I love it!! I stayed in bed till about 8:30 this morning, but really had a good night sleep...I think I only got up once to go the bathroom....well twice if you count 7 a.m. this morning.
Yesterday I did what I said I was going to do....basically nothing. Didn't even get dressed. I did comb my hair....but I didn't leave the house. I spent a lot of time on the computer. Somehow the screen for the Burgenland Bunch (descendants of the Burgenland area of Austria) popped up in facebook, and I realized that some people had responded to my status I entered two years ago, and one of the women that did was online in the sight at the same time. She and her third cousin both have great grandfathers that were brothers and came to Winsted, MN from Deutchgerisdorf, like grandma's parents did. We have some relatives in common...so we are related somehow. One had a grandfather from Gerisdorf and a grandmother from Lockenhaus, and got married there. My grandfather was born there and lived there till about six or seven before coming to Winsted, MN. I looked up some pictures of that area from my trip I took with Kathleen and Gary in 2008. That took a while.
So that kept me busy, then I got an message on facebook from a women (Renee McLean Turnberg) I graduated from St. Margarets with that is living in California, and is hoping to help organize the 50th class reunion we will have next year (same as my wedding anniversary). So looked up some emails for her....only to find she was sending them on to BSM person I already sent them to....but atleast I have another contact from the past. I wouldn't mind working on the reunion again, but do not want to be in charge of it.
So that pretty much took up the afternoon and early evening. I did email Judy and we are going to meet face to face this afternoon after I finish delivering Meals on Wheels. She is leaving for California where her daughter lives, and spending Thanksgiving with her.
Other than that I'll come home and do pretty much the same as yesterday. Till tomorrow, ....oh today is Ginny's surgery....say some prayers for her. Love and prayers, m

The Sun IS Shining Today!!
It may be cold out there, but it's warm in here....and the sun makes me feel so much better! It did finally come out yesterday, but not until after my shower and on my way to the retiree's lunch. Was a nice lunch, but hate sitting at one end of a long table and only getting to talk to about half the people. I did get up and move at the end of lunch to talk to a few people at the other end of the table.
On my way to lunch a engine light came on (well I didn't know it was the engine light, but I called Jimbo and asked him what the yellow light that looked like a movie camera was) and so on my way home, I stopped at Doug's office (in the Northdale shopping center) but he wasn't there. Matthew had Pink Eye and they wouldn't let him in school even though they had put the drops in. I called him at home, and he and Matthew came over and put some oil in for me, and said he'd be back this morning with more. Then Jimbo said he would take my car in on Friday and get the oil changed and put on a new set of tires for me. If it's not one thing it's another. I haven't had any surprise expenses for a couple of months.
No plans for the day, I did the laundry yesterday, and do have one load of towels to fold, but that's about it. I'm sure if I look around I can find a project in seconds. So many to choose from!
I put out the word for Christmas Wish lists from the kids and grandkids, and even got one response back....now only 17 to go. But that one asked me what I wanted....and I could only come up with one thing on the spot....so I better do some thinking and get my list in order too! They did such a great job on the pictures for the cabin last year, I don't think I can top that!
Tomorrow cousin Ginny has her surgery for breast cancer, so please remember her in your prayers. Love and prayers, m

There May be Sun Today
I thought I saw it a minute ago, but now it's gone....where did it go? Monday mornings need sun. I was really hoping I had nothing to do today so I didn't need to get dressed and leave the house....but it's lunch with retiree's and wannabees at noon. So I need some sun to get me going!! I'm sure I'll be happy to be there once I get there. It's just the getting there I detest!!
You may have noticed over the years, that I am not a morning person. Just moving Sunday Mass schedule from 9 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. is killing me. But all my friends are there, or most of them, and I love the sense of community I get. I guess I'm not a morning person....but am a people person.
Anyway that's my plan for today, and then I'll come home and hibernate.
Saturday I did get the window boxes and planters near the front door decorated....a little early, but I wanted to get it done when it was warm. For the next week they are only talking about it getting cold. Minnesota type weather for November. Not 60's anymore. The house I think really looks good, however when I asked Annie what she thought about it yesterday, she didn't even notice....so I guess it's not spectacular. I like it, and that's what counts!
Went to watch Matthew at Hockey yesterday before the gang came for pizza. He is really a good skater. I think he may even out shine his older sisters in a few years. He did manage to get the puck in the net a couple of times, but he still doesn't have the hunger to fight for the puck. I'm sure that will come in time too! For now it's just fun to watch him skate.
Two of the families gathered to celebrate Doug's birthday, and the pizza, salad and ice cream cake all went well. For me just having them all there is what I like best. It doesn't matter what the occasion is.
Karen, Kennedy and Presley and maybe Emily too will come next weekend for a Hockey tournament that Kennedy will take part in, and we will get a chance to see them and watch Kennedy play too. Should be fun. Then next week we'll have Thanksgiving....so another chance for family to be together....love it all!!!
So I guess I better think about getting in the shower and moving. Love and Prayers, m

Happy 18th Birthday Emily!
I can still remember like it was yesterday the day Emily was born! Her mom tried for days to deliver her naturally, and finally had to have a C section, and poor Emily's head looked like a cone head!! And she was so chubby her dad called her a little piggy!! It didn't take long for her to become this beautiful young women she is today. I don't remember what the weather was that day, but I'm sure the sun was shining at the hospital that day. She was our second grand child, and our first granddaughter. Love you Em and hope the sun shines for you all year!
Must get dressed and run to church, so this will be short. I got to go to the new Hockey rink and see Coon Rapids, skate their first JV and Varsity games. Both Nicole and Allie skated well and played a great game, but neither were able to win! But their friends the Hannula girls, each got a special note by being the first to sit in the penalty box in the JV game and also to score the first goal in the varsity game. Today I'll watch Matthew skate, and then have the gang over to celebrate Doug's birthday. So for today, Love and prayers, m

What a Glorious Fall Day
Temps above normal, beautiful sunshine and just a light breeze....how can you top that? Fall is probably my most favorite time of the year, and hiking through a state park kicking up the leaves was something Gene and I loved to do. I can remember lots of trips south along the Mississippi listening to a football game on the radio and admiring all the spectacular fall colors. A few weeks ago driving through the Carolina's and Georgia brought back lots of those memories too.
Last night I went out for dinner with the birthday girl, Ann, and Jimbo to one of their favorite spots, P.F. Changs. Love it too. Great meal and fun just being able to visit face to face with them. Lot's of talk about the cabin and the Revised Progressive dinner. (The only thing progressive about it, will be the food and it's preparers.)
Today, I may go find some pine bows and decorate my window boxes and planters out side my door before the ground freezes and I can't get anything to stick in it. But later I will spend the late afternoon and evening watching hockey. Nicole and Allie will play in the High School JV game at 5:30 and then will stay and watch the Varsity play at 7:30 in the brand new Coon Rapids Ice Center (CRIC). First game of the season and first game in the new arena. It should be a fun evening.
Tomorrow I will host the Bill Kiecker's and the Birthday boy Doug and his family for Annie's (Colfax) deep dish pizza in the afternoon. Can't wait to see everyone, as I haven't seen them since before I went to Georgia for Joe's birthday. I'm thinking it must be at least a month.
Nothing else new to report. Love and prayers, m

Not Starting Out Well
I already missed the garbage pickup for the week, but the recycling gets picked up much later, so when I finish this, I'll get dressed and get it out there. With any luck that will get picked up, cause that's usually the most full anyway. With just me the garbage is usually one or two small bags in the bottom of the barrel.
Yesterday afternoon I went up to Billy's in Anoka, and surprised Val for her 65th birthday. It really isn't till Monday, but the college is closed today for Veterans Day, (or as most call it: Hunting 3-day Weekend) so they planned it for yesterday. Lots of people showed up....I'm guessing around 30. The 2 tables of 12 each kept recycling through out the evening. I left around 7 p.m. and there was still about a dozen there....but several of them were leaving too! Val was surprised, and seemed Happy. She had blatantly asked her husband to give her a surprise party and he declined. But she admitted that he did go beyond her imagination with a great gift of a new droid phone. So all and all it was a Happy Day. For me it was fun to see all of those that showed up, cause some I hadn't seen them in years....along with a few I see regularly.
Earlier in the day I did get that package mailed, but today being a holiday, I'm sure Em won't get it till Monday....but it will be close....as her birthday is Sunday. Let's see if I can remember that on Sunday.
I also did some shopping, hoping to spend $50 so I could use Cub's $5 off coupon, wasn't a problem....I ended up spending $80....have enough in the house right now for the next month....but of course, Thanksgiving is coming and I'll have to shop for that too! Turkey, Stuffing stuff and Potatoes all need to be purchased. I'm sure I'll be able to spend $50 again next week too!
Today I may be going out or may have company for dinner. Tried to get the family all together for Ann and Doug's birthdays as I usually do, but I couldn't manage that. So Doug and family and Bill, Kim and kids will come on Sunday afternoon for Pizza, and Jimbo suggested we do something this evening, minus their kids....as Jack is in Duluth at school, and Nick already had plans. Only problem they haven't told me yet if we are going out, or eating in. Hmmmmm! At this point I guess going out would be better, cause I haven't cleaned or fixed anything, but I'm sure I could get that done quickly if they decide to come here.
Well, I better get busy. Prayers for Lottie and Ginny....I heard that Lottie's surgery went well, but they changed the diagnosis from Stage 1 to Stage 3, and she will need chemo. I really need to talk to her about that. I'm sure she is worried.
Love and prayers, m

I Don't See Snow!
But I heard some places in Minnesota did. The neighbor is still working clearing leaves from mine and Wally's (next door) yards. He must be worried it will snow and there will still be leaves on the grass. I really appreciate all the work he has put into my yard....he has put in a lot of hours working on it. Thanks Jim.
I did get Emily's package ready to mail yesterday, and did deliver meals, I also made myself a pot of beef stew, and almost ate the whole thing. Between 3 and 9 p.m. I had four bowls. With the left overs, I'm gonna make Brunswick stew today.
I have to run over to the P.O. to get Em's package in the mail, and I get to go out for a college gathering at Billy's in Anoka later this afternoon. Looking forward to seeing some people I haven't seen in a long time and getting caught up on all the gossip. Don't have any other big plans....I may have to resort to cleaning.
Please keep Lottie and Ginny in your prayers....and please keep me in them too! Love and prayers, m

The Real Happy Birthday Doug and Ann
Okay, I've sunk to a new low....I can 't even remember what date a birthday is. I'm only pretty sure that today is really Doug and Ann's brithday is....not the 7th. But at least they got pre-birthday messages from me....I wasn't late like usual. I have no excuse, I haven't had chemo since Sept. 9, and I'm still young so it's not old age.
I had a nice lunch yesterday with a few woman from ARCC, and then headed out shopping again.....got Doug and Ann done, and almost done with Em. Then after dinner I voted and rushed off to the North Suburban Women's Club meeting. We made scarves for the ACBC Food bank, and I think we ended up with over 100 fleece scarves.
Today I have to deliver Meals on Wheels at noon, and then I have to get Emily's package ready to put in the mail. I'm tying not to be late for that, like I was for Will. Somedays I'm hopeless!!
Must get dressed or I won't make Meals on Wheels on time either.
Have prayers requests for cousin Ginny Martinson who has Breast Cancer and having surgery next week, and also a friend from the college who is having a complete hysterectomy as I write for cancer as well. Love and prayers, m

Sun is Shining Here!
But I here that south and east of us it's snowing! Hoping it's not snowing where you are! Unfortunately it may snow a few flakes this evening...so I better be careful what I say.
I had a great day yesterday, shopping for 3 birthdays, and then a movie (50/50) followed by dinner. The movie was really good even though it was about a cancer patient....he lives. I had a $25 certificate for dinner at "Paddy Wagon" in Coon Rapids, so I suggested we go there, but got there and found out they had closed and something new is opening there soon! That's the second certificate this week that is no longer any good. I purchased them at Restaurant.com and have used them a couple of times with no problem, but I'm on a roll of bad luck this week. Luckily restaurant.com does give me credit for them and I can get one for a different place. The trick is to use them before the place closes down.
We ended up going across the street to the Olive Garden, and had a fine meal. The company Lois and Bonnie was the best part, and I look forward to Bonnie moving back to the city for the winter months, so we can get together more often.
Today will be another busy day, lunch with a bunch from ARCC and then some more shopping, and then Women's Club this evening. Hopefully tomorrow things will quiet down.
Till then, Love and Prayers, m

Good Morning Sunshine! Happy Birthday Ann and Doug!!
With Daylight Savings Time, it gets light much earlier in the day, and I love that part, but I hate that it gets dark so early too! I guess we can't have it both ways till next spring.
I guess I should catch you up on my weekend, as I didn't have my computer along with me. On Saturday, I left at 10 a.m. and ran some errands....like getting some cash and a wedding gift for the wedding I was going to and then ran through the craft fair at St. Tim's all on my way to meet Judy in Hudson.
In Hudson, Judy left her car at Jimbo's Tire's Plus, and I drove us the rest of the way to Colfax, WI where the wedding was held. But before we gathered at Annie's restaurant which was right across the street from the church, we had a few snacks and did some visiting, and then headed to the church.
The reception was held at a "Sleep Inn" in Eau Claire, or near there on Hwy 29. We all checked into our rooms....well at least all of us from MN did....and that was a bunch.
Jackie, the mother of the groom, set up snacks in a "board room" later renamed "The quiet room" or "old peoples room". So after dropping off our suitcases, a bunch of us from MN or friends and relatives of the groom gathered to wait for the reception dinner and dance began. Later it was used as a retreat from the noise or loud speakers, and thus where the old people seemed to gather one by one as the evening wore on. Of course us youngin's danced the night away. I don't think I've actually danced anywhere since Gene died, and having an abundance of single women mostly cousins, gave me an unending supply of partners. But by 11:00 or so, I too ended up in the "Quiet room" visiting with the old people! lol
Luckily we got to turn back the clocks by 1 hour, so I was in bed in plenty of time to rest up for the Sunday celebrations. We checked out of the hotel at about 8:30 and headed back to Colfax and Annie's for the next party. Annie and Mike, her brother, had already started cooking much earlier, and greeted us with coffee, juice, cinnomon rolls, head cheese, poppy strudel, cranberry apple strudel and bagels (The head cheese and poppy strudel are family recipes we always had for the holidays). That was to tie us over till they brought out the real breakfast....egg bake, an egg scramble, peach french toast and breakfast pizza. Along with 2 bouquets of roses made out of bacon! Really.....I wish I would have taken a picture of it for you....maybe someone will send me a picture. All and all it was a especially enjoyable weekend of cousins, love, laughter, dancing, eating, and great conversation and stories of days gone by.
But the best part of the whole weekend was the visiting with a lot of cousins and Uncle John and Florence, who were celebrating their 51st wedding anniversary. I've included a picture of the Gendreau women (as mother of the groom Jackie is one of them, and Uncle John and Florence.
We left with some head cheese (both Judy and I) and I also brought home a huge garbage pizza, one of Annie's specialties. I can't wait to eat it!! But will save it for a celebration of Jimbo's wife Ann, and Annie's (my Annie not Uncle John's) husband Doug, who both were born of the 7th of November. So big week for the family, and in another week Tom's daughter, my granddaughter,Emily will turn 18. Grandma needs to get busy and do some shopping. Also next week on Wednesday, Karen, Kennedy and Presley will be coming to MN for Kennedy's hockey tournament at the Super Rink in Blaine.
So that leads me to today!! I have made plans to see a movie and dinner with Bonnie Sass and Lois Bjerke this afternoon. I hope to do some of that shopping as well, and tomorrow I have Women's Club in the evening and Wednesday I will be delivering Meals on Wheels....other than that no big plans! lol
Happy, Happy Birthday Ann and Doug, love you both.
